MEET THE PRINCIPAL

Dirk de Bruin

Hearty greetings!

My name is Dirk de Bruin and I am privileged to have been hired as principal of the Solid Foundations School.  I was born in Holland in 1971 and moved to Canada with my family in 1982.  Here I met and married my dear wife Christine.  I began my working career in the construction industry, having graduated with a diploma in Architectural Technology from Fanshawe College.

In 2006, we were sent out to Bolivia with our three oldest children by the mission organization of the Netherlands Reformed Congregations.  In the approximately ten years that we lived there, I worked primarily in the Christian school founded by the mission, both as a teacher and as principal.

Some time after returning to Canada in 2016 with five children, I started teaching high school at Rehoboth Christian School in Norwich, after first obtaining a bachelors degree from Laurentian University.  My formal teacher training was provided on the job through a partnership program between Rehoboth and Queens University.  Today, I continue to work on a Master’s degree in theology, when time permits.

Although my favourite activity is meeting and getting to know new people, I also love to read, especially books that deal with God’s Word and matters of faith.  I consider reading to be the best way to continue learning and growing.

I look forward to working with the students, parents, board and staff of our new school, and I hope and pray that the Lord will grant His blessing upon the endeavor, and give the wisdom necessary to do all things in accordance with His will.
